As noted by TASS, one of the amendments to the bill raises the age of acquisition of hunting weapons and smooth-bore long-barreled firearms for self-defense from 18 years to 21 years.

“Citizens of Russia who have reached the age of 21 have the right to purchase civilian firearms of limited destruction, hunting weapons, smooth-bore long-barreled self-defense weapons,” the amendment says.

This rule will not apply to past and ongoing military service.

At the same time, it is proposed to retain the right to purchase hunting weapons from the age of 18 for indigenous peoples.

Earlier, the State Duma proposed expanding the list of grounds for refusing a weapon license.
