Since the peaceful liberation of Tibet in 1951, tens of thousands of officers and soldiers have worked tirelessly on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, making significant contributions to the stability of border defense and the prosperity of Tibet.

Today, we follow the car soldiers and follow the route of the 18th Army soldiers entering Tibet to learn about the "iron cavalry" on the heavenly road.

Early in the morning, a hundred men and a hundred vehicles from the Sichuan-Tibet Military Depot of the Tibet Military Region organized an expedition ceremony in the barracks.

The convoy full of supplies stretched for several miles, maneuvering on the Qianli Sichuan-Tibet line. In this transportation task, the party member's "pioneer car" was still driving at the forefront.

Chen Yao, instructor of a company in the Sichuan-Tibet Military Depot of the Tibet Military Region

: I am the party branch secretary of the company. This is the fifth time I have led an expedition. (In) the Sichuan-Tibet line car soldiers (middle), party members and cadres are the vanguard. It is our fine tradition for more than 60 years.

The winding and rugged Sichuan-Tibet line has an average altitude of 3,500 meters. Flying rocks, landslides, and mudslides have occurred from time to time. In the 67 years since it was opened to traffic, 663 officers and soldiers have died, more than 1,800 people have been disabled, and more than 3,000 people have suffered lifelong illnesses. Because of the natural conditions and dangerous "roads to heaven", generations of auto soldiers are not afraid of hardships and dangers, and have successfully completed various tasks assigned by the party and the people, and more than 70% of them are party members.

Li Xiangrui, a company sergeant in the Sichuan-Tibet Military Station of the Tibet Military Region

: The most dangerous and complicated roads in the past were the pioneers of our party members. It can be said that a car is a banner. We can run with it regardless of wind or rain. This is our Sichuan-Tibetan. Bright business cards of line party members.

During the mission, the convoy passed the "Ten Heroes" Monument Square in Tongmai, Tibet, where company officers and soldiers stopped briefly.

They face the hero sculpture and swear in unison.

In 1967, a certain car regiment of the Sichuan-Tibet Military Station passed through here on a mission. It suddenly encountered a mudslide and the road was blocked.

In order to promptly guide the convoy to break through and evacuate the disaster-stricken people, the deputy instructor Li Xianwen and other 10 officers and soldiers were involved in a dangerous retrograde and were involved in a huge landslide. They gave their young lives and turned into eternal statues of the snow-capped mountains.

The Central Military Commission awarded them the honorary title of "Ten Heroes on the Sichuan-Tibet Transport Line".

The Sichuan-Tibet line is not only a highway, but also a heroic road engraved with the names of countless martyrs.

In order to arouse the enthusiasm of officers and soldiers to fight on Tianlu, they gave full play to the advantages of the rich red resources on the Sichuan-Tibet line, established three educational bases of Red Army tradition, advanced model, and hero model, and extensively carried out the "Long March Road Talking Mission, Dadu River Talking Tradition" "Luding Qiaotou remembers martyrs, sacrifices to heroic spirits in front of the tombs of martyrs," and other revolutionary traditional education, historical materials, pictures, and real objects have strengthened the ideological foundation of officers and soldiers to listen to and follow the party.

Dai Zhaoren, political commissar of the Sichuan-Tibet Military Station Department of the Tibet Military Region

: Our officers and soldiers fight all year round in the snow-covered plateau, facing the test of gain and loss, even life and death at any time.

In the study and education of party history, we always regard the Sichuan-Tibet line as the main battlefield for officers and soldiers to temper the party spirit, let the spirit of the "two roads" be internalized and externalized, and use practical actions to pursue the dream of strengthening the army and rejuvenating the army.

Since the opening of the Sichuan-Tibet Highway in 1954, generations of Sichuan-Tibet informants have determined to serve the motherland, devote themselves to national defense, and build military barracks. Achieved "I listen to the party, the car listens to me", facing the new era and new mission, they vigorously promote the "two roads" spirit and the "old Tibet spirit", run the battle speed on the plateau and increase the "winning" ability.
