Regarding the state of emergency in 10 prefectures, the government is considering shifting to priority measures such as prevention of spread if it is canceled by the deadline of 20th of this month, and plans to decide on 17th.

Even if the declaration is lifted, the restrictions on holding events will not be allowed up to half of the capacity immediately, and we are adjusting to establish a transitional measure up to 10,000 people.

The state of emergency issued to 10 prefectures such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Aichi as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus is due on the 20th of this month, and the government has canceled the declaration in areas where the infection situation is improving. We are also considering shifting to priority measures such as prevention of spread.

Prime Minister Suga will discuss the response with the relevant ministers on the 16th, and will decide on the 17th after asking experts for opinions on which areas to shift to priority measures.

In addition, we will also decide how to handle the priority measures applied to 5 prefectures such as Saitama and Gifu.

On the other hand, due to restrictions on holding events, when the government holds a large-scale sporting event with tens of thousands of people, ◇ the upper limit of 5,000 people in the target areas of the declaration and priority measures, ◇ the capacity of the other areas There is a limit of half.

Regarding this, the government will maintain the current limit until the end of August, and even if the declaration or priority measures are lifted in the future, it will not immediately allow half of the capacity, and will implement a transitional measure up to 10,000 people. We are coordinating to establish it and will discuss it at the government subcommittee that will be held on the 16th.

Based on this, we plan to discuss the treatment of spectators at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics with the Organizing Committee and make a decision within this month.
