- NFC has a very important task and then it is also very important that they have the tools they need.

They must have digital tools that work and are at the forefront, and then it is of course unacceptable that NFC does not have a functioning system, says Niels Paarup-Petersen (C), Member of Parliament with responsibility for digital issues.

"It is serious information that raises a number of questions about how the government intends to act," writes SD's legal policy spokesman Adam Marttinen to SVT.

"We expect to receive answers about what the government intends to do to ensure a functioning NFC."

Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg (S) will come to the Justice Committee on Thursday and then both the Center Party and the Sweden Democrats will ask questions about the revelation.

"Oh," said the chief

SVT was able to reveal this weekend that an internal report points out several serious consequences of the lagging IT development at NFC.

These include computers not being updated and new employees lacking equipment.

The report came about after a critical internal audit, and it was NFC's head Helena Trolläng who last year was commissioned by the National Police Chief to produce the analysis.

Still, both it and the problems came as a surprise to the NFC manager when SVT interviewed her last week.

- Oh, she said when SVT read out the wording that new employees lack equipment.

- Oh, said the NFC manager when SVT read aloud from the report.

- It is unacceptable that NFC does not have a functioning system, says the Center Party's spokesperson.

Trojan Shield fittings on the way

SVT has also reported major problems with NFC's new system for fingerprint searches.

The picture of extensive problems is confirmed by several NFC employees that SVT spoke to - and who also claim that the management is trying to sweep the problems under the rug.

Something that is described as extra serious because NFC is currently receiving large seizures for analysis from, among other things, Operation Trojan Shield.

Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg does not want to comment on the events with reference to the fact that these are operational issues.

But on Thursday, he will have to answer in committee.

“The government must ensure that our authorities function and that they are given reasonable conditions for doing so.

If this does not happen, it is the trust in the responsible minister that should be used up, "writes Adam Marttinen (SD).
