Late on the night of June 13, local time, some demonstrators gathered near downtown Minneapolis to protest the recent shooting of a 33-year-old African American by police in the city.
At around 23:40 local time, a sports utility vehicle accelerated towards the demonstrators and knocked into a car parked on the side of the road.
One person was killed and at least two people were injured.
The police stated that the perpetrator has been arrested and the motive for the crime is unknown.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the perpetrator may have been driving and hitting someone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
