Greetings from the minister

"Even in this difficult year we have reached the moment of the Exam - underlined Minister Patrizio Bianchi, in a video greeting the high school and high school students on his social channels -. It is an important moment, because it is a moment of It is the moment in which you will take the exam, but you must also do an exam yourself, to understand what you have learned, what you have done, but also how you have transformed, how you have changed in these five years ".

The examination, continued the minister, "do it with all the attention that a moment of such great importance in life requires. But do it also with the joy of going to a new phase. Do it by smiling at all your companions, to your teachers and thinking it's really starting a new page. Come on girls,  come on guys!".

Use of surgical masks

For the second consecutive year, students will have to deal with compliance with the Security Protocol for Covid. The last year has been reconfirmed broadly, with a clarification regarding the

masks.

According to the indications of the Higher Institute of Health, it will be mandatory to

use surgical

and no longer community ones (as it was allowed in 2020), while Fpp2 are not recommended for prolonged use. For the rest, the Protocol provides for the same directives as last year such as the

spacing of at least two meters

between the candidate and each member of the commission,

hand sanitation

,

limited use of accompanying persons

in school premises,

remote examination in case the student is in quarantine

.

The exam

The paper, from which the oral interview will start, which will last about an hour for each student, was assigned by the class councils on the basis of the path taken and will concern the disciplines characterizing the study area, which may also integrated with contributions from other disciplines, experiences related to Pathways for transversal skills and orientation or individual skills present in the student's curriculum.

After the

discussion of

the

paper

, the oral exam will continue with the

analysis of a text

already subject of study in the teaching of the Italian language and literature. As last year, the

materials

(a text, a document, a problem, a project) prepared by the commission

will then be analyzed

.

The

academic credit

will be awarded up to a maximum of 60 points, of which up to 18 for the third class, up to 20 for the fourth class and up to 22 for the fifth class. Up to 40 points will be awarded with the oral exam The final evaluation will be expressed in hundredths, it will be possible to obtain honors.

The Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi, has repeatedly stressed the value of this type of test. "This year - he said - we have introduced an important thing: since March the school councils have been discussing the topics that children can develop having a month's time, a paper and not an essay. This is the basis of the oral . Not a random oral - he reiterated - but it starts from a job done in a month, discussed with the schools, given in advance to the commission and then finally there is a written reasoned, thought and discussed ".

Bianchi did not rule out that this model could permanently become the new maturity exam. "Let's see how it goes. I have positive feedback from the boys. the idea of having time to show articulate and complex thinking is true maturity ".

Even on the controversy of the absence of written tests, the minister affirmed that it is "nonsense. We asked the schools to go one step further: identify a theme and increase the degree of integration with their teachers. We asked to make an elaborate to develop a complex thought ".

Night before exams

How do students experience this particular moment? Despite the formula without writing, most graduates live the night before exams full of anxiety and last-minute study. From a survey conducted by ScuolaZoo on 17 thousand graduates, 37% stated that they will spend the day before the exams on books studying as hard as they can; 34.6% instead will dedicate themselves to relaxation, but staying at home, while only 25% will go out with friends to celebrate. Then there are those who resort to superstitious rites, more or less imaginative, to defeat pre-examination anxiety. Surprisingly, however, the lucky charm has a sentimental value: many graduates will bring with them objects and accessories (such as hats and necklaces) that belonged to their grandparents.

Speaking instead of the actual oral, not all the exam worries students in the same way: the third part of the interview is more frightening, in which the candidate will have to structure a multidisciplinary speech starting from a material (text, photos, article, problem, project) chosen by the professors of the commission.

In fact, more than half of the high school students (51%) are afraid of not knowing how to make the connections between subjects, while 37% are afraid of not saying a word during the exam making a silent scene. Once the State Exam is over? No worries and get ready to fully enjoy the summer! 33% of graduates are planning a trip with friends and 26% will also leave alone (the important thing is to travel!). The laziest (20%) will spend the post-exam period on the couch, while a tireless 13% will not take a summer break. It is already time to study for the university entrance tests.
