The proposals, which the committee pledged to formulate and turn into parliamentary recommendations for discussion in the Council, included the policy of the Ministry of Community Development regarding the development of the social security system, the provision of monthly support to university students from citizens, and the last material or employment for the category of "housewives" of divorced and widowed women, to increase their income.

In detail, the Social Affairs Committee organized, the day before yesterday, a virtual panel discussion entitled “Developing the Social Security System in the State”, as part of its work plan to discuss the issue of the Ministry of Community Development’s policy regarding the development of the social security system.

The panel discussion, in which the members of the Committee participated, headed by the Chairman of the Committee, Dirar Hamid Belhoul, focused on a large number of members of the Council, and witnessed a remarkable community presence;

On three main axes: the first is the legislation related to the social security system and its suitability to economic and social changes, the second is the initiative of the Ministry of Community Development regarding social security and the extent to which it is benefited, while the last axis relates to the challenges facing the categories of social security beneficiaries.

The discussions that took place during the seminar focused on a number of public proposals aimed at supporting families and improving social work, as some of the attendees suggested the possibility of providing grants in the form of monthly support for university students from citizens, to help them continue their academic achievement, while raising the value of this support for students who Educationally ascend to the postgraduate level.

Participants in the seminar also suggested allowing the General Pension and Social Security Authority to exploit the funds of participants and insured persons deposited with it to invest in all economic fields, and obligating national banks to allocate loans and credit and banking facilities to retired citizens wishing to establish commercial projects after retirement.

The proposals included urging the Ministry of Community Development, in cooperation with the relevant local government agencies, to form field work teams to conduct extensive community studies that serve the category of beneficiaries of social services, and to develop financial and employment initiatives to support the category of “housewives” of divorced and widowed, to increase their income, and to reconsider social assistance. Participants requested the necessity of working to help the security beneficiaries by providing them with job opportunities and enabling them to reach financial sufficiency and independence without the need to provide them with assistance, in addition to reconsidering the legislation related to social security, the conditions and standards related to the categories eligible for social security, and finally taking into account the resulting effects. The Chairman of the Committee, Dirar Hamid Belhoul, confirmed that the Committee seeks, through this meeting, to discuss legislation related to the social security system and the challenges related to it in accordance with economic and social changes, and to identify the strategy and initiatives of the Ministry of Community Development in this regard, in addition to identifying the coordination efforts between the Ministry and the relevant local institutions. with social security programmes.

He praised the great attendance of the public, interested people and specialists from various segments of society who expressed their views and presented their views, observations and suggestions, and clearly presented the challenges they face regarding the social security system in the country, pledging that the committee will formulate the most important challenges, observations and proposals that emerged from the seminar. And converting them into parliamentary recommendations that touch reality, to include them in the final report of the committee on the general issue and discuss them under the dome of the Federal National Council, in a way that serves the country and the citizen.

For her part, the committee’s rapporteur, Hind Hamid Al-Alili, explained that the committee listened during the episode to the beneficiaries of social security, as well as to the non-beneficiaries who see their entitlement to this guarantee. These proposals are communicated with government representatives and responses are obtained, in order to ensure social stability and financial independence.
