With applause and the shout of long live the King! Felipe VI and Queen Letizia have been received this Monday at the entrance of the San Telmo Palace in Seville, seat of the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, where the Monarch has received the
Andalusia's
first
Medal of Honor
for its "exemplary
defense of the unity of Spain
", as highlighted by the President of the Andalusian Government, Juanma Moreno (PP).
The Andalusian Executive of the PP and Cs agreed to grant this distinction to Felipe VI because he represents with "fidelity" the values and principles of "concord" that sustain the identity of the Spanish nation, reflected in the
Constitution
, which highlights the role of the Crown as "a benchmark for the unity of Spain and solidarity among Spaniards".
The awarding of the Medal of Honor of Andalusia occurs in full controversy over the foreseeable granting of pardons by the Government of Pedro Sánchez to the prisoners of the 'procés' of Catalonia, who were sentenced to sentences of between nine and thirteen years for crimes of sedition and embezzlement. The Supreme Court and the Prosecutor's Office
have opposed the grace measure
, among other reasons because none of the convicted separatist politicians has shown repentance. On the contrary, some have proclaimed that they would do it again.
In this way, Andalusia acts as a
counterweight
against the
Catalan secessionist challenge
and does so just one day after a citizen outcry flooded the Plaza de Colón in Madrid against Pedro Sánchez and his intention to pardon the prisoners of the 'procés'.
In his speech, the King stressed that Andalusia is an "essential" part of Spain at a time when the country faces
"great challenges"
, in which
solidarity
is "more necessary than ever
" between the territories.
In this context, Andalusia claims "what unites" versus "what separates" because the community is "aware of its role in Spain", when it comes to
"building bridges"
and being "inclusive", said Felipe VI.
For the King, "being in Andalusia is being at home" because of the "closeness and warmth that make me feel like one of you, like one more Andalusian among Andalusians".
With the Medal of Honor of Andalusia, the "emotional bond between the Monarchy and this people" is reinforced, who share "the
values of the Constitution
, which make it possible to live in freedom," he added.
The King has advocated for a "future of peace, recovery, understanding and
prosperity
for which we all work and wish for Spain."
At the gates of the San Telmo Palace, where dozens of Sevillians have gathered, some with Spanish flags, Kings Felipe and Letizia have been received by the president of the Board and all his advisers, and the vice president of the Government, the socialist Carmen Calvo.

The Medal of Honor of Andalusia consolidates the affective and respectful ties that unite Andalusians with the Crown, as highlighted by the Andalusian Government.
"His reign has come to underline the role that the Constitution gives to the Crown as a benchmark for the unity of Spain and solidarity among Spaniards, and his work has been an example of dedication to improving living conditions in our country ", the Board has indicated.
Dinner at Arahal
King Felipe VI dined this Sunday night in the Sevillian municipality of Arahal at the La Mazorca winery.
It was an
informal visit
, accompanied by his security team and part of those responsible for the Protocol of the Royal House, as published by the digital Aionsur.
One of the members of his

is a native of Arahal, and this could be decisive for the monarch to choose this place for dinner, after being in Cádiz in the morning, aboard the
Navy training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano.
The visit caused excitement among the neighbors of the winery who, little by little, approached the door to greet the monarch.
