There are nine candidates on the track.

In the Grand Est like everywhere in France, the first round of regional elections will take place on Sunday, June 20.

The outgoing president, the LR Jean Rottner, will face in particular the RN Laurent Jacobelli, given winner in the event of quadrangular.

The campaign revolves a lot around subjects which do not fall within the competence of the regions, such as health and safety.

"Even in our countryside, even in rural areas, leaving home becomes something of concern. I hear a lot that security is not a regional competence. Me, I would say above all that security is a proof of the incompetence of our president ", considers Laurent Jacobelli.

Jean Rottner wants to train caregivers

In front of him, Jean Rottner, an emergency physician, has been highly publicized since the pandemic.

When it is pointed out to him that health is not part of the region's competences, he replies: "But spatial planning is part of our competence. When we develop the territory, we cannot forget health. vocational training is part of our competence. I plan to train 2,000 additional nurses, 2,000 nursing assistants and 2,000 caregivers. "

The candidate, who absolutely wants to take the lead in the first round, could be in a strong position in the event of a Republican front.

Against the extreme right, Minister Klinkert wants to embody the useful vote

A little behind in the polls, the current Minister for Integration, Brigitte Klinkert, ex LR, seeks to embody the useful anti-far-right vote.

"The National Gathering revels in the distance. It revels in the disconnection with the inhabitants. It revels in the erasure of identities. My program is proximity and respect for identities."

To beat the RN, she would be ready for reconciliations and mergers, she suggests.

"My line is clear: ecology and social justice. I will bring together all those who agree with these values. Yes, I wish to block the national gathering."

Five other lists are in the running in the Great West: that of the former PS Aurélie Filippetti, that of Lutte Ouvrière, that of the regionalists of Unser Land, that of the Union of French Muslim Democrats and that of Florian Philippot, the former number two of Marine Le Pen.
