June 14, 2021 The London government has decided to delay the lifting of all coronavirus restrictions in England beyond June 21.

Sources in the executive told the BBC that the current rules will remain for another four weeks after this date: it means that nightclubs will remain closed and people will be encouraged to still work from home where possible.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to confirm the decision at a press conference.

The extension will be put to a vote by the municipalities this month and could trigger a considerable rebellion by conservatives.

The premier, who will hold a press conference in Downing Street, will announce that Freedom Day will be postponed to July 19. Meanwhile, the government will try to get a dose of vaccination for all adults by the end of next month, so as to ensure as many people as possible are 'safe' before easing. The premier has repeatedly said that the end of the restrictions must be "irreversible" and instead the fear is now of a fourth epidemic wave. However, Jonson has to face the growing pressure of the Tories and also the anger of the hotel and entertainment sectors, theaters in the lead.
