Two young people are said to have delivered an illegal car race in Wiesbaden.


According to witnesses, the

21-year-old and the 22-

year-old driver were traveling at up to 100 kilometers per hour in 50 zones, as a police spokesman said on Monday.

In order to overtake other drivers, they sometimes switched to the opposite lane on Saturday evening.

Emergency services stopped the two drivers, who had to surrender their driver's licenses and their cars.

Nobody was endangered or injured, said the spokesman.

A 31-year-old car driver ran into a three-year-old child in Bensheim (Bergstrasse district).

The child was so seriously injured after the collision that it was taken to a hospital by helicopter, the police said on Monday night.

In the accident on early Sunday evening, the child ran between parked cars on the street.

The driver and the child's parents suffered a shock and received psychological care.

The road was closed for several hours to investigate the accident.

A rescue operation on the track on Monday morning caused significant delays on the railway line between Oberkarben and Nieder-Wöllstadt. Seven people were injured in a fire in a house in the Giessen district.

An 18-year-old resident with severe burns was brought to a special clinic in Ludwigshafen, as a police spokesman said.

Two other people also had to be taken to a hospital.

Four people were treated on an outpatient basis.

According to the information, it was initially unclear why the fire broke out in Laubach on Sunday.

The fire in the Wetterfeld district was initially not completely extinguished.

The fire brigade announced that a fire watch would be necessary until Monday to prevent the flames from spreading again.

Investigators would therefore not have been able to enter the house.

However, for the time being there were no


indications of deliberate arson.

Wetzlar.

A motorcyclist crashed into a parked car in Wetzlar and was fatally injured.

As a police spokesman said, the 63-year-old man got off the road with his moped on Sunday for initially unknown reasons, fell and then crashed into the car.

The man was cared for by an emergency doctor at the accident site and then taken to


a clinic.

There he succumbed to his serious injuries.

A fatal accident had already occurred in Wetzlar early on Sunday morning.

A 39-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car on a federal road and was fatally injured.
