Organized crime in Östergötland has this year gained new light with the large gang trial after the gang murders in Norrköping.

A large part of the evidence was then based on the encrypted chat tool Encrochat - which provided a unique insight into the everyday lives of criminals.

As in most criminal contexts, much revolves around the drug trade, so also in Östergötland.

According to Ronald Malmkvist, who is a commissioner at the police's criminal intelligence service, there are currently around 500 network criminal individuals in Östergötland today.

- There are several networks.

It's everything from brand clubs to networks in residential areas, he says.

Mc gangs have a toned down role

In recent years, it has been relatively quiet around the established large motorcycle gangs or so-called one percent gangs in Östergötland.

But according to Ronald Malmkvist, they are extremely active.

- They are absolutely active, although right now they have a more toned down role, he says, but does not want to go into exactly which motorcycle gangs are active here.
