On May 12, a decree extended paternity leave from 11 days to 25 days.

From July 1, all dads of unborn children will be able to benefit from it.

If we do the accounts correctly, dads will even be entitled to 28 days.

To the three days of birth leave for fathers, 25 days are added instead of 11 days.

It is possible to take these days off within six months of the birth, continuously or in several installments.

In the event of a multiple birth, the paternity leave is then 35 days, always including the birth leave.

Are all employees eligible for leave?

Whether you are a civil servant, self-employed or employed in a company, you have the right to this extension of paternity leave.

This is also true for the self-employed, such as farmers for example.

Is the period of leave paid?

Social security takes care of the compensation.

But under certain conditions.

To benefit from this support, the father must consume at least seven days continuously immediately after the birth of the child.

If we come back to our calculations, that gives: 3 days of birth leave and 4 days to be taken out of the 25 days of paternity leave.

Also, don't forget to let your employer know at least a month in advance of the mother's due date.

For the remaining 21 days, they will also need to be placed one month in advance.

Do you have to be the father of the child to benefit from paternity leave?

Not necessarily.
