June 11, 2021 The EMA Safety Committee concluded that people who previously had capillary leak syndrome should not be vaccinated with AstraZeneca's serum.

The syndrome, explains Ema, is a very rare and serious condition that causes fluid loss from small blood vessels (capillaries), resulting in swelling mainly in the arms and legs, low blood pressure, thickening of the blood and low levels of albumin in the blood .

Ema continues the analysis on reports of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) and pericarditis (inflammation of the membrane around the heart) in a small number of people after vaccination with Covid-19 sera.

Finally, Ema recommends updating the Veklury (remdesivir) treatment information to include bradycardia as an adverse reaction of unknown frequency for this medicine.
