China News Service, June 13th. According to a report by the Russian Satellite Network on the 12th, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makeyi said in a statement that the purpose of the West’s tightening of sanctions against the Minsk government is to cause an economic crisis and "starvation riots" in Belarus. "The task of the opposition is to "restart" large-scale protests in the country before September. If this is not possible, the United States and the West will "stop funding."

In an interview with Belarusian National Television, Maqyi said: "The authorities of Western countries have issued absolutely hostile remarks on sanctions. Let us think deeply about these remarks and actions. Why should we do this? The purpose is to stifle Belarus. The economy has plunged the country into starvation riots and undermined state power."

Maqyi expressed unreasonable remarks by Western politicians that "severe sanctions on Belarus are in the interests of the Belarusian people" and the so-called "Belarusian people are looking forward to sanctions": "Can you imagine how frivolous this is?"

At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the Belarusian opposition figures who fled the country called for severe sanctions against the Belarusian people, but they themselves lived in expensive apartments abroad and did not have to live in poverty at all.

Maqyi emphasized: “We know exactly that, just recently, those representatives of the Belarusian opposition in Poland were clearly told:'If there are no large-scale protests in Belarus by September, we will stop providing funds.' They naturally They must respond to threats related to their well-being and start to take some actions. Therefore, they tried to organize the blockade of the border roads between Poland and the Baltic countries adjacent to Belarus, and they tried to organize protests in and around Belarus."

Alexander Lukashenko won the Belarusian presidential election for the sixth time on August 9, 2020. According to data from the Central Election Commission, he won 80.1% of the vote. After the presidential election, Belarus began a large-scale Opposition protests.

In Belarus, some opposition leaders have been charged with criminal charges, including seeking power, establishing extremist organizations, conspiring to seize state power by unconstitutional means, and attempting to launch terrorist attacks.

The Belarusian government has repeatedly stated that the country’s protests are coordinated abroad.

Lukashenko condemned the West for directly interfering in the internal affairs of the Republic of Belarus, and pointed out that the relevant unrest was directed by the United States, and Europe has also "colluded" with it.

After the election, relations between Belarus and Western countries deteriorated sharply.
