A retriever who left for a swim alone came back with a friend in the middle of the river.

According to foreign media such as ABC, USA on the 7th local time, Lauren Russell, who recently visited the Lunenburg River in Massachusetts with her dog 'Walley', witnessed an unexpected sight.

A blackish object was clinging to the back of Wally, who was happily swimming in the water about 100m from the land.

Upon closer inspection, this 'free rider' slipped on Wally's back, fell into the river, and then climbed back up again.

Russell realized that it was a 'Marmot' only after a while.

The marmot is a squirrel that lives mainly in the northeastern United States, and is known to live in burrows, usually in rocky places on flat ground.

But the marmot, exhausted, did not intend to descend from Wally's back.

Wally also spotted a marmot riding on his back, but without a sign of surprise, he began to swim towards the riverside where Mr. Russell was standing.

Thanks to this, the marmot, who arrived comfortably on land, jumped off Wally's back, kissed his nose as if to say hello, and disappeared into the grass.

Russell, who recorded this process in the video, was amazed, saying, "I was suspicious of my eyes when I saw the marmot using our dog like a water taxi."

He added, "Wolly is a kind dog to everyone. Babies like it very much, and he gets along well with other dogs he encounters while walking. But I didn't know it would be so popular with marmots."

This is a 'news pick'.
