According to the Security Police's assessment, the Al-Azhar Foundation in Örebro is an activity where children were probably exposed to radicalization.

On Thursday, the Swedish Schools Inspectorate revoked the foundation's approval, which means that they are not allowed to run schools.

The background, according to the Swedish Schools Inspectorate, is that there are serious shortcomings concerning the principal's ownership and management circle.

Now the foundation comments on the decision in an email to SVT Nyheter Örebro, but refuses to participate in an interview.

“The school is active in Vivalla where such (radicalization, editor's note) occurs and it means great challenges for us.

We are very anxious to live up to those challenges and counteract radicalization ", it says in the email.

Will appeal

Furthermore, they state that they will appeal the Swedish Schools Inspectorate's decision.

They write that they did not know the background of the former board member.

According to Säpo's information, the person must have gone down to Syria and joined a terrorist organization.

"There is no possibility for us to know which people the security police have under supervision, we want the security police to have a dialogue with us if we have employees who are unsuitable to have in school operations," the foundation writes in the email.
