Public viewing events during the European Football Championship are possible in Hesse under certain conditions.

Environment Minister Priska Hinz (The Greens) pointed this out on Friday.

In addition to compliance with the corona rules, residents' need for rest must also be taken into account.

In the case of rare events such as the European Football Championship, however, it should be a bit louder in the outdoor dining area even after 10 p.m.

The same applies to public viewing events in public places, said Hinz.

This year there is no nationwide regulation.

At the European Football Championship, many games start at 9 p.m., for example when the German national team played for the first time next Tuesday. According to the current rules, outdoor events with up to 200 unvaccinated people are allowed in Hessen; distance and hygiene rules apply. In addition, it is forbidden to drink alcohol in “public places outside the catering trade”.
