The termination issued in June 2020 for the headmaster of the State Ballet School Berlin is not effective.

The Berlin-Brandenburg State Labor Court decided according to information on Thursday.

The headmaster must continue to be employed at the school.

The director had sued because he had been dismissed in June 2020 after a report of physical and psychological abuse at the ballet school.

Three months later, the Berlin Labor Court declared the termination to be effective.

The director always denied the allegations.

Deadline not met

The state labor court justified its judgment by stating that no reasons had been presented that could justify the termination.

In addition, the barely tangible allegations had been known for more than two weeks when the termination was pronounced and the deadline, which also applies to extraordinary terminations, was not met.

At the beginning of 2020, the climate and the methods at the facility and the associated school for acrobatics were heavily criticized by experts.

Physical assaults, emotional and psychological violence were reported.

In addition to the headmaster, the head of the youth ballet had also been fired.
