June 10, 2021 The World Health Organization warns European countries about the dangers of coronavirus variants. In particular, the Delta variant is particularly feared because it is able to evade some vaccines and cause immune leaks even for those who have received only one dose.

The alarm comes from the WHO director for Europe, Hans Kluge, who recommends caution especially when traveling: "people should refrain from traveling" but urged those who will do so to move wisely.

As for vaccination coverage, "it is far from sufficient to protect all of Europe," said Kluge, recommending a further acceleration of the vaccination campaign.

"The distance to cover before reaching at least 80% coverage of the adult population is still considerable - reiterated Kluge - We should also remember that being vaccinated does not automatically prevent us from getting sick or spreading the virus. Vaccination, however, reduces the possibility. to become seriously ill or die from Covid. I therefore urge you to get vaccinated when it is your turn, "is the appeal," and to quickly achieve a high diffusion of the vaccine in the most vulnerable populations. In this way, we save lives and livelihoods and let's end the pandemic first
