It was during a large coordinated operation called Trojan Shield that the police on Monday carried out raids in sixteen countries around the world.

More than 800 people with links to organized crime were detained and twenty-one of them were arrested in western Sweden.

Suspected serious crime

When the arrest hearings began on Thursday morning, the district court in Gothenburg had to open up two extra halls to accommodate all hearings during the day.

The criminal classifications are mainly about serious drug crimes and serious gun crimes, but also in a couple of cases about attempted murder and murder.

Leading criminals

Several people will be so-called top names in organized crime in western Sweden.

Among other things, this applies to the 32-year-old man who is believed to be the real importer of the cannabis that was seized by the customs in Gothenburg last November.

The drugs were smuggled in marble slabs and had a value of SEK 120 million.

The hearings in Gothenburg District Court are expected to continue until late afternoon.
