The "Biblical Whale"... a lethal Israeli weapon that fires nuclear missiles

Israel revealed, for the first time, one of its most important tactical naval weapons;

The submarine "Leviathan", which has been in secret training for so long, that its members did not even know about the war with Gaza during the past month.

"We (a unit) are fairly secretive and isolated at sea. Our performance depends on our focus," a senior Navy officer told Reuters on board the submarine in the first-ever foreign media visit to these submarines.

The submarine was conducting a training mission in the depths of the sea, receiving only a brief newsletter for the crew so that they would not be distracted from their task.

Leviathan derives its name from the whale mentioned in the Torah.

These "Dolphin"-class submarines cost about $500 million each, about a third of the size of the huge US and Russian nuclear-powered submarines.

It is powered by diesel and electric engines, making its underwater trips limited to two or three weeks, and its main objective is to protect the Israeli coast on the Mediterranean.
