On the other hand, the change has also meant that it has been possible to reduce the number of patients who are called to the clinic who do not need it.

- It will be more effective and it has been a necessary change because both the population and the number of skin cancer cases are increasing.

Important with early detection

Although in recent years there have been treatments that in some patients have had a good effect in delaying the course of the disease for disseminated skin melanoma, early detection is still crucial for curing the cancer through surgery.

- It is only when a cancer spreads that it becomes fatal.

To save lives, early detection is so important.

Christina Berndes Sköldmark also says that studies have been done that show that the inhabitants of Sweden have great knowledge about the connection between burning in the sun and the risk of developing skin cancer later in life - but that not everyone follows the advice in practice.
