The new college entrance examination in 8 provinces and cities: how to fill in the volunteers

On June 10, with the completion of geography examinations in Beijing, Hainan and other places, the 2021 national college entrance examination officially came to an end.

As of now, Anhui, Henan, and Hunan have announced that starting from late June, admission control scores and candidates' scores can be inquired.

At that time, 10.78 million candidates and their parents will face another test-volunteering to fill in.

In particular, 8 new provinces have implemented the new college entrance examination this year, all adopting the "3+1+2" model, no longer dividing the liberal arts and sciences, there have been major adjustments in the setting of volunteers and admission rules, and the application of volunteers has become quite complicated.

Seven points test, three points report.

What are the rules for volunteering this year?

How to master the skills of filling in volunteers, avoid risks reasonably, and increase the admission rate?

The reporter interviewed relevant experts to advise candidates and parents.

Provinces and cities implementing the new college entrance examination for the first time: it is difficult to apply for volunteers

This year, the eight provinces and cities of Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangsu, Hebei, Liaoning, Hubei, Hunan and Chongqing implemented the new college entrance examination for the first time.

These provinces and cities merge the first batch of undergraduates and the second batch of undergraduates, regardless of liberal arts and sciences, and announce their enrollment plans according to general, art, and sports categories.

The enrollment plan will be compiled according to the combination of historical subjects and the combination of physical subjects.

"Compared with the traditional college entrance examination model, the new college entrance examination will have different characteristics in the analysis and processing of scores and rankings. Some effective methods in the past may not be practical." Hu Xiangdong, director of the Measurement and Evaluation Center of Central China Normal University, reminded this year It is the first year of the new college entrance examination in eight provinces and cities, and it is more difficult to apply for it. Candidates and parents must be "careful and cautious."

Compared with the traditional college entrance examination, what is the difference between the new college entrance examination voluntary filling method?

At present, there are two ways to apply for the new college entrance examination by the provinces and cities, and for the registration and filing.

One is based on the "academic professional group" as a unit to conduct parallel voluntary filing and admission. A "academic professional group" is a volunteer; Hubei, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hunan, and Fujian all adopt this method.

The other kind uses "1 major (class) + 1 school" as a volunteer, and conducts parallel voluntary filing and admission. The provinces and cities that adopt this method include Hebei, Chongqing, and Liaoning.

"It is not possible to directly apply the admission score line of the traditional college entrance examination model." Hu Xiangdong analyzed that the eight provinces and cities implement a points system for the new college entrance examination re-selection subjects, and the distribution of college entrance examination scores will be different from the past. College admissions are again based on the professional group (or major) of the college. , "The admission line will also change, and direct application will result in inaccurate positioning."

"It is not possible to directly compare the'one point one piece table' of the traditional college entrance examination model." Hu Xiangdong said that the eight provinces and cities adopt the "3+1+2" subject setting, and candidates will be sorted according to their preferred subjects, physics and history.

This is similar to the traditional college entrance examination for liberal arts and sciences, but because candidates have two different subjects, the number of candidates who prefer physics or history is not the same as the number of science or liberal arts in the past, so the ranking of scores is different. The sorting of science subjects will also fall into the hole, and the scientific conversion must be carried out according to the above-mentioned differences."

"It is not possible to directly treat all majors in a university as majors at the same level." The traditional college entrance examination is based on colleges and universities. A university has two admission lines for liberal arts and sciences. The school line is divided into professional lines, and the professional lines are different. It is often not too big; the new college entrance examination is based on the professional group (or major) of the institution. There will be as many scores as there are as many professional groups (majors) in a university.

Hu Xiangdong analyzed, "There may be a large gap between these admission lines, and the reference value of the two lines of liberal arts and science in the past has changed. Candidates and parents should also fully realize this."

The number of volunteers has increased sharply, consider adopting the "rank reference method"

Compared with previous years, the number of ordinary batches of volunteers set up in the provinces and cities for the first new college entrance examination has increased significantly: there are 40 or 45 volunteers in the professional group of colleges and universities; while the professional parallel volunteers can fill about 100.

Among them, Hebei and Chongqing are the least, which can fill 96; Liaoning is the most, which can fill 112.

For the first time, candidates from provinces and cities in the new college entrance examination have no content for direct reference, so how should candidates fill in their volunteers?

Xin Xiangren, director of the admissions office of Shaanxi Normal University, pointed out that for students and parents, the "3+1+2" model is the first year of the new college entrance examination, but in any case, they have to find some reference data.

"The overall principle is to consider the ranking reference method. Specific considerations should be given to comparing several data and roughly looking at the trend. Last year's total number of people in the arts and sciences (number of people in liberal arts, number of people in science), and the enrollment plan of the master plan of arts and science (liberal arts plan, science plan); The total number of exams this year, the total number of first choice in physics and the total number of first choice in history, and the number of plans in the first choice of history and physics; see how much the changes in the data last year and this year? The difference is large, and the range will be increased when positioning Point; if the difference is not big, the reference will be more valuable." Xin Xiangren gave an example.

The core of adopting this comparison method for positioning is "the issue of the extent of data change in two years needs to be considered."

In Xin Xiangren’s opinion, because there are 12 combinations of subject selection including physics and history, and some provinces and cities have not announced the number of candidates, coupled with factors such as different subjects in colleges and universities, the actual situation It is likely to break the previous ratio of candidates for arts and sciences, so it cannot be simply assumed that it is the same as the way of drawing lines for arts and sciences.

He suggested, "The most important thing when filling in the report after selecting the target is to open the gradient of the professional group or professional college, and the principle of parallel volunteering, stability, security, and maturity must be grasped."

Hu Xiangdong suggested that candidates should comprehensively clarify their own score positioning and be "knowing oneself"; understand the composition of the college's professional team, selection requirements, etc., be "knowing the enemy", and then carefully compare the requirements to match the scores with their wishes.

"You can also learn about the new college entrance examination and the new admission of provinces and cities, as well as the experience of these provinces and cities in filling out their volunteers, learning purposefully, and analyzing the matching degree of their scores with the school and professional volunteers."

At present, the places that can be used as reference are Zhejiang and Shanghai, which have implemented the new college entrance examination for many years.

Candidates in these places are sorted according to the total score of the "required exam + optional exam" regardless of arts and sciences, regardless of batches, and each candidate gets a "rank number".

According to Sun Junhua, associate professor of Nanjing University, when the total scores of candidates are the same, they are ranked according to the total score of culture, total score of Chinese and mathematics, and single subject scores of Chinese or mathematics. Those who are all the same are in the same rank.

"It should be noted that the rank number is formed on the basis of rules that do not distinguish between arts and sciences, regardless of batches, fill in the volunteers in sections, and file admissions in sections. The rank number cannot be equated to the rank number, and you must pay attention to the distinction and Contrast." Sun Junhua said, "Therefore, in the process of volunteering, we still have to pay attention to locking in colleges and universities."

"In places where the new college entrance examination has been implemented for many years, the ranking number corresponding to the lowest and average scores of the target colleges and universities can still provide a rough reference for candidates to fill in the volunteers." Sun Junhua said frankly, "There have been some'high scores and low scores' before. 'The main reason is that the report is for the same major, different schools, and the differences between schools are too large."

Traditional college entrance examination candidates from provinces and cities: Don't just look at the scores, but also "know the line and position"

After the college entrance examination results come out, candidates are most concerned about the total score.

However, Xin Xiangren said that as important as the total score, there is also the "one point and one section table". The first step for traditional college entrance examination candidates to fill in their volunteers is to "know the points, lines and positions."

"Knowledge line" means that candidates need to know their own scores and the admission control score line of each batch; and "bit" refers to the corresponding position of the candidate's total score in the college entrance examination in the province's ranking of candidates of the same discipline, that is, "one point" The position on a table".

Xin Xiangren introduced, “Candidates can look up a list of points and compare their rankings with the admission rankings of various colleges and universities in previous years. You can also consider using some big data-assisted consulting software to delineate the tenths that are slightly higher, flat, and slightly lower than their own rankings. Several colleges and universities in order to narrow the scope and focus on understanding."

On June 8, the Gansu Provincial Education Examination Institute launched a voluntary reporting and auxiliary consulting service platform.

Candidates can obtain volunteer references in two ways: "Pushing volunteers by institution" and "Pushing volunteers by major".

The service platform recommends that candidates should fill in 3 volunteers in accordance with the "sprint type", "secure type" and "guaranteed type" respectively, for a total of 9 parallel volunteers.

In addition, the Sunshine College Entrance Examination Platform of the Ministry of Education has also launched a comprehensive reference system for college entrance examination filling and reporting.

The system shows that "it is possible to use analysis based on big data" to simulate screening of colleges and universities and majors based on the candidates' estimated scores or ranks in the college entrance examination, and "provide references for candidates to fill in their volunteers."

Choose school and major: Combine hobbies and career planning

Regardless of whether it is the new college entrance examination or the traditional college entrance examination, how should all candidates consider when choosing a school and major?

"College entrance examination volunteers should make choices based on a certain period of life planning. First, you need to clarify your personal interests and hobbies, and plan your career early." Sun Junhua said.

Schools and majors that match their interests, score conditions, and family conditions are the best solutions.

At present, some websites and software have launched test takers’ personality and interest in order to recommend majors and career plans.

However, Sun Junhua reminds candidates that they need to be cautious about network services such as recommending professions through personality tests.

"The interest of candidates is still in the process of development. How the test results refer to the future is open to question."

"What kind of scores were tested, how high the rankings in the province are, what kind of schools and majors can be studied, are basically consistent with the overall admissions of the candidates over the years." Hu Xiangdong reminded the candidates and their parents, "Don't listen. The propaganda of commercial organizations takes advantage of what they call guidance."

What issues should be paid attention to when filling in the college entrance examination volunteers?

"In terms of understanding the specific situation of the target institution, it is necessary to make good use of the "Admissions Regulations" and the school's "Examination Guide" these two important documents." Xin Xiangren reminded candidates that the school's materials usually cover the school level and professional settings. This year Enrollment plan, enrollment major, etc., "there are also requirements in terms of whether there is a professional level difference, adjustment policy, whether there is a single subject requirement, physical condition, etc., it is also worth noting."
