3 Palestinians killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli forces

Palestinian and Israeli sources confirmed the death of three Palestinians, including two security forces, in the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, at dawn yesterday, during an exchange of fire with Israeli forces, in a development considered by the Palestinian presidency as a “dangerous escalation.”

An Israeli security official said that the Israeli special forces in Jenin were seeking to arrest two Palestinians who carried out a shooting attack earlier.

For his part, a high-ranking Palestinian security official said, "The Israeli forces, who arrived in the vicinity of the intelligence headquarters in Jenin, at about three in the morning, were traveling in a civilian car."

"The guards of the intelligence headquarters suspected them, and a clash took place between the guards and the undercover unit," the source added.

According to the official Palestinian news agency (Wafa), "the martyrs are Lieutenant Adham Alawi (23 years), Captain Taysir Issa (33 years), from the Military Intelligence Service, and the released prisoner Jamil Al-Amouri."
