Following the enactment of a law to create a fund to inhale asbestos at construction sites and provide benefits to people who have suffered health problems, the work teams of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Komeito Party will become building material manufacturers in the future. On the other hand, we confirmed the policy of seeking contributions to the fund.

Regarding the health hazards caused by asbestos at construction sites, the Supreme Court, which acknowledged the responsibility of the government and building material manufacturers, decided to create a fund to provide benefits to victims and bereaved families who have not filed a trial. The law was passed at the House of Councilors plenary session on the 9th.

On the other hand, since the law does not include contributions from building material manufacturers to the fund, the working teams of the LDP and Komeito held a meeting on the 10th to discuss future measures with the plaintiffs and lawyers. ..

Former Minister of Home Affairs Takeshi Noda of the Liberal Democratic Party, who chairs the meeting, said, "Although the enactment of the law is a break, this issue is not over and we would like to continue discussions on the response of building material manufacturers."

Attorney Toshitaka Onodera, the lawyer's chief, said, "I would like to discuss with the building material manufacturer inside and outside the courtroom for a full solution," and confirmed the policy of requesting the building material manufacturer to contribute to the fund.
