A lagging province

The scholarships will be reserved for students aged 12 to 17, a government statement said.

People who received a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine before August 2 will be eligible for the first draw and the second will be reserved for people fully vaccinated, the second being reserved for people fully vaccinated before September 6.

"The sooner you get vaccinated, the faster you can get back to normal life," said Brian Pallister, Premier of the province.

“This lottery gives Manitobans even more reason to roll up their sleeves, not once, but twice.

The province of 1.4 million people currently has the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases relative to its population.

A poll published on Wednesday places its second-to-last Prime Minister among those of the ten Canadian provinces for his management of the pandemic.
