The Moscow authorities decided from Wednesday, June 9, to strengthen control over compliance with measures to counter the spread of coronavirus, in particular over the wearing of masks and gloves in public places.

This was told by the head of the Main Control Directorate of the capital, Evgeny Danchikov.

He explained that the epidemiological situation in the city is deteriorating and the number of COVID-19 cases is growing - over the past day, the virus in Moscow was detected in 4124 people, which was the maximum figure since January 16.

Danchikov said that the authorities will closely monitor the use of personal protective equipment in public transport, metro, shopping and entertainment centers, and other places where citizens gather.

“Control over enterprises and organizations that do not comply with sanitary norms and rules will also be strengthened.

Permanent control measures will be carried out by authorized employees of the Moscow government together with the police and employees of Rospotrebnadzor, ”TASS quoted him as saying.

Special attention, according to the head of the capital's Glavkontrol, will be given to shopping and entertainment centers, cafes, bars and restaurants, their summer verandas, nightclubs and concert events.

Danchikov recalled that the fine for violation of the established requirements will be from 4 to 5 thousand rubles.

“I draw your attention to the fact that in the city of Moscow, vaccination has been launched for everyone, and vaccination is an effective tool in the fight against coronavirus infection,” he concluded.

Over the past day, 10,407 new cases of coronavirus were detected in the country (the maximum rate since March 7), most of them in Moscow (4124), St. Petersburg (852) and the Moscow region (781).

During the same period, 9,814 people recovered in Russia, 399 patients died from complications that developed against the background of COVID-19 and concomitant diseases.

The total number of cases of coronavirus registered in Russia reached 5,156,250, 124,895 people have died since the start of the pandemic, 4,761,899 patients have recovered.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also stated that the situation with COVID-19 in the capital continues to remain difficult, and said that the authorities will open several more hospitals for those infected with coronavirus in the coming days.

According to him, about 10 thousand beds are currently occupied by patients with this diagnosis in the city.

“We see a new surge of the disease day by day.

The number of hospital beds that are being used is expanding, "RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

At the same time, the city authorities do not plan to introduce "any lockdowns" in the capital, since at the current stage they believe that they can cope with the disease without such measures, the mayor said.

In addition, he called on the restaurant business, catering and everyone involved in trade services to adhere to sanitary standards, and also again turned to the townspeople with a proposal to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

In turn, Deputy Mayor for Social Development Anastasia Rakova said that the bed capacity for patients with coronavirus in the capital will be increased to more than 14 thousand beds by the end of the week.

She added that two computed tomography centers for the diagnosis of COVID-19 have returned to work.

“During this week, we are recording an increase in the incidence of coronavirus infection.

To provide every Muscovite with the necessary medical care, we are expanding the bed capacity of our medical institutions working with COVID-19, ”she explained.

According to her, epidemiologists associate the dynamics of the number of cases with non-compliance with sanitary and epidemiological measures.

At the same time, the deputy mayor noted that the situation has changed dramatically compared to the spring of 2020.

“This year we have the opportunity to protect ourselves and our loved ones from this terrible disease - everyone can get vaccinated.

Various opportunities for vaccination have been created in Moscow, which can satisfy everyone, ”Rakova explained.

She also asked Muscovites to maintain social distance, wear masks and gloves, and, if possible, reduce contacts.

In addition, she urged not to self-medicate and see a doctor at the first sign of a cold.

The head of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gunzburg, expressed the opinion that the rise in the incidence of COVID-19 in Russia may be associated with the increased mobility of people: who have not been vaccinated. "

The scientist added that those who have been vaccinated against coronavirus, even in case of infection, carry the disease in a mild form.

As Rospotrebnadzor recalled, full-fledged immunity to coronavirus is formed no earlier than 42-45 days after the first injection.

The department noted that before the development of antibodies, Russians must continue to observe safety measures: avoid crowds, wear medical masks, and wash their hands more often.

They also said that the elderly tolerate vaccination easily and without side effects: "This is due to the peculiarities of the body's immune response."
