Today (9th) afternoon, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin presided over a regular press conference.

A reporter asked: According to reports, on June 8th, the U.S. Senate reviewed and passed the "2021 American Innovation and Competition Act", which emphasizes competition with China through strategic, economic, diplomatic, technological and other means.

What is China's comment?

Wang Wenbin said that the bill passed by the U.S. Senate distorted the facts, discredited China's development path and domestic and foreign policies, exaggerated the China threat theory, and advocated strategic competition with China.

Serious interference in China's internal affairs on issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Tibet, etc., is full of Cold War zero-sum thinking, and runs counter to the common desire of all sectors of China and the United States to strengthen exchanges and cooperation.

China firmly opposes this.

Wang Wenbin pointed out that how the United States develops and how to enhance its competitiveness is the United States' own business.

However, we are firmly opposed to the U.S.'s use of China as an imaginary enemy.

The biggest threat to the United States is the United States itself. It is more important than anything else to run its own affairs well.

Wang Wenbin emphasized: "China has always adhered to the path of peaceful development. Our goal of development is to continuously improve ourselves and allow the Chinese people to live a happier and better life. No one can deprive the Chinese people of their legitimate right to development." China is committed to working together. The United States develops a relationship that is non-conflict, non-confrontational, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation. At the same time, it will continue to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests.

We urge the United States to correct its mentality, take a rational view of China's development and Sino-US relations, stop advancing relevant bills, and stop interfering in China's internal affairs, so as not to damage the overall situation of China-US relations and cooperation in important areas between the two sides.
