The man, a convicted criminal in Jämtland, subjected the girl to the abuse in his apartment last summer, after he offered drugs and she fell asleep in his bed.
According to a review of the newspaper, the man had been convicted six months earlier for the first child rapes and three weeks before the girl was raped would have turned up at an institution in Västerås to start serving his prison sentence, but never showed up.
- In these cases, when it really affects someone else, the consequences of the gap between them and prison become serious. If he had been in prison, the incident would not have happened, says Lillemor Ersberg, who was the prosecutor in the case, to the newspaper.
