It is a report from the financial prosecutor at the Regional Chamber of Accounts of Paca which pushed the justice to delve deeply into the affairs of the city of Eze (Alpes-Maritimes), located on the Riviera between Nice and Monaco.

The Nice prosecutor's office announced this Wednesday that "several search operations within the town hall of the town, at the home of its mayor Stéphane Cherki as well as the premises of companies and hotel or catering establishments" were carried out during the day .

The city and the elected LR are targeted by a preliminary investigation.

It is open for "influence peddling, active and passive, by or in respect of a person holding public authority or entrusted with a public service mission", "illegal taking of interests", "embezzlement public ”and“ favoritism ”.

Real estate transactions and public contracts

This investigation relates in particular "to the circumstances of several real estate transactions and public contracts granted by the municipality, for the most part, since 2014 under the successive mandates of its current mayor", specifies the prosecution.

It was entrusted to investigators from the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Tax Offenses and the Nice Judicial Police Service.

Elected since 2008, Stéphane Cherki (DVD) is a business manager.

Presented on his website as "the inventor of the gift voucher in France", he is notably the founder of the company Tir Groupé.

He is also displayed as a “patron”.
