It's official since Wednesday, Lille will open a lower risk consumption room (SCMR) from the start of the school year.
This desire of Martine Aubry, which was included in her program in the last municipal elections, will not therefore have waited for the next municipal council to see the light of day.
The information was provided after a visit to a new accommodation center located on Boulevard de Strasbourg, in Lille-Moulins.
And it is besides not far from there, boulevard de Metz, that the Lille SCMR will be installed, also called “shooting room”.
The place will adjoin the addiction treatment center managed by the Lille University Hospital Center (CHU).
Opening at the beginning of October 2021
It is one of the places in Lille where drug trafficking and consumption is particularly high.
The logic of implantation "as close as possible to places of consumption, in districts where drug addicts are found", is thus respected, as explained to us last May, the addictology professor at the University Hospital of Lille Olivier Cottencin.
According to the town hall, the opening of the place is scheduled for October 1 and thus falls within the framework of the SCMR experimentation law, which ends in 2022. According to the same addictologist, the place should be perpetuated at the end of the experiment.
