07 June 2021 The Public Prosecutor of Palermo has asked the Assize Court of Appeal to confirm the sentences inflicted in the first instance on bosses, former carabinieri and politicians accused of threatening the State Political Body in the trial on the so-called State-Mafia negotiation. In the first instance, the boss Leoluca Bagarella was sentenced to 28 years in prison, to 12 the former officers of the Ros Mario Mori and Antonio Subranni, the former senator of Fi Marcello Dell'Utri and the former doctor who is very faithful to Toto 'Riina, Antonino China. Eight years the sentence imposed on the former captain of the Ros Giuseppe De Donno.

 The Court - in the first instance - had also declared the "not to proceed" against the collaborator of justice Giovanni Brusca (also accused under article 338) due to the limitation given the recognition of the extenuating circumstances provided for the collaborators of justice. Brusca participated in the trial in connection from a reserved location, after being released from prison for the end of his sentence, amid controversy, last week, after 25 years of detention. Massimo Ciancimino had also been sentenced to 8 years for slander and external complicity but then, in the second degree, his position was removed because the crime was barred.   

For the prosecution Marcello Dell'Utri had "a decisive role in this situation of Gattopardesque coexistence", "taking care of the weaving of relations between Cosa Nostra and Ndrangheta with political power. "So the Deputy Attorney General of Palermo Giuseppe Fici concluded his indictment with the request for confirmation of the convictions at first instance.

The timetable for the continuation of the process that is coming to an end has also been defined. The civil parties and the lawyer Luca Cianferoni who defends the accused Leoluca Bagarella will speak in the next hearing, scheduled for June 14, again in the bunker room of the Pagliarelli prison. On 21 June it will be the turn of the lawyers Di Benedetto and Folli, defenders of the accused Antonino Cina '. Francesco Romito and Basilio Milio, defenders of the accused Giuseppe De Donno and Mario Mori, will speak on June 28 and July 5, while on July 12 it will be the defense of General Antonio Subranni. Finally - on 14 and 20 July - the harangue of the defense board of Marcello Dell'Utri is scheduled.
