The Washington Post (WP) reported on the 6th local time that the number of peacocks has recently increased rapidly in the Los Angeles (LA) area of California, USA, causing great damage to residents.

The peacocks are appearing everywhere in groups of tens to hundreds, the newspaper reported.

It is said that while spreading its tail is beautiful, it appears in groups and creates a threatening appearance, and there are many residents who complain of pain, especially because of the cries that are close to screaming.

Kathleen Turtle, 68, a resident, said, "I wake up in the morning," and "I think I put a huge megaphone to the sound of a baby being tortured."

The Washington Post reported that the number of peacocks soared as the spread of COVID-19 stopped catching wild peacocks and sending them to quarantine facilities.

As their numbers increase, the number of dukes causing property damage to residents is also increasing.

Hungry peacocks dig into the yards of residents' houses in search of food, and male peacocks peck at the car with their beaks, mistaken for a breeding season for their reflection in a parked car.

Some residents, tired of the duke's actions, are turning violent.

There were cars rushing towards the peacocks, lethal baits and even shootings.

On the other hand, some residents say it is a "blessing" to see the duke's splendid appearance, which causes quarrels among the residents.

Mike Maxy, who catches peacocks and sends them to quarantine, said 70% of residents hate peacocks, but 30% are peacock lovers.

Los Angeles County is expected to vote on an ordinance that would ban the intentional feeding of wandering peacocks to prevent damage to the peacocks as early as the 8th.
