Recently, the authorities in the Aligarh region of Uttar Pradesh, India ordered the complete closure of the upper Ganges canal for "exhaustive search and cleanup".

They suspected that there was a large amount of illegal liquor thrown away in the canal recently, flowing from west to east through the middle of the area through the canal on the upper Ganges River.

Local officials said that a group of officials, including the water conservancy department, will supervise the cleaning.

The cleanup operation was carried out after a large amount of fake wine in large wooden boxes and bags was found in the canal.

After some unsuspecting migrant workers (almost all migrant workers from Bihar) accidentally discovered and drank the alcohol, two more people died in the area.

These fake wines floating on the Ganges have caused the deaths of at least 10 workers and more than 30 people have become seriously ill. The patients are currently being received at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital in AMU (AMU) treatment.

The local police said that they are now fully investigating the culprit behind the dumping of counterfeit alcohol.
