It is clear since Växjö District Court today announced the verdict after the extensive fire of an apartment hotel in Växjö in January this year.

The district court considers it a serious arson because there were 31 people who were in their apartments when it started to burn.

The district court finds that the fire started after the 31-year-old set fire to a moped parked next to the apartment hotel, and that the fire quickly spread to the rest of the building.

According to the district court, the fire meant that people were exposed to danger to life.

In addition, the fire caused more than seven million kronor in damage to the property, which was completely destroyed.

Lit a fire on a moped

Växjö District Court considers that there is no doubt that the 31-year-old is the person responsible for the aggravated arson, by setting fire to a moped that was parked right next to the house, where the residents were expected to lie and sleep.

The 31-year-old man denies the crime.

Växjö District Court completely acquits the 51-year-old man who was suspected of aiding and abetting a serious arson.
