Corona virus infection toll around the world
The Corona virus has killed 3,723,381 people in the world since the World Health Organization office in China reported the emergence of the disease at the end of December 2019, according to a census conducted by Agence France-Presse based on official sources on Sunday.
More than 172,873,850 people have been confirmed infected with the virus since its appearance, and the vast majority of those infected have recovered, although some continue to feel symptoms after weeks or even months.
The figures are based on daily reports issued by each country's health authorities and exclude subsequent reviews by statistical agencies that indicate much higher death numbers.
The World Health Organization, taking into account the excess mortality rate directly or indirectly related to Covid-19, considers that the outcome of the epidemic may be two or three times greater than the officially announced outcome.
A large proportion of less serious cases or asymptomatic cases remain undetected despite the intensification of examinations in a large number of countries.
Saturday, 10,020 new deaths and 403,621 new infections were recorded in the world.
Based on recent reports, the countries with the highest number of deaths are India 2,677, Brazil 1,689 and India 532.
The United States is the country most affected in terms of 597,377 deaths and 33,357,240 injuries, according to Johns Hopkins University figures.
Followed by Brazil with 472,531 deaths and 16,907,425 injuries, India with 346,759 deaths (28,809,399 injuries), Mexico with 228,754 deaths and 2,432,280 injuries and Peru with 186,073 deaths and 1,980,391 injuries.
Among the worst-affected countries, Peru has the highest death-to-population rate of 564 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Hungary (309), Bosnia (286), the Czech Republic (282) and North Macedonia (261).
On Sunday, at 10.00 GMT, Latin America and the Caribbean recorded 1,177,972 deaths (33,872,153 injuries), Europe 1,141,892 deaths out of 53,211,826 injuries, while the United States and Canada together recorded 623,083 deaths (34,748,020 injuries).
Asia recorded 502,761 deaths (37,355,325 injuries), the Middle East 144,520 deaths (8,725,622 injuries), Africa 132,049 deaths (4,911,526 injuries) and Oceania recorded 1104 deaths (49379 injuries).
