Party contractors justified it by “high demand” .. and weddings: Its goal is to compensate for the losses of the “pandemic year”

Wedding halls take advantage of the summer season to increase the prices of "kosh"

Young men about to get married considered that wedding operators and wedding halls took advantage of the increased demand for halls with the return of summer, which represents an annual season for this type of occasion, noting that there is an “undue exaggeration in the numbers.”

They said that they were surprised by the "crazy" price hike, considering that "the required numbers represent a kind of exploitation for families wishing to book wedding halls during the coming months of July and August."

The cost of booking the kosha, with hall fees, exceeded 85,000 dirhams during the past days.

They suggested that the new prices would be an attempt by the owners of the halls to compensate for the losses they incurred due to the Corona pandemic, as last year witnessed the closure of the halls, and the work of wedding contractors stopped, as a result of the transformation of wedding parties to homes, and limiting them to 10 people from the families of the newlyweds, to limit the spread of the Corona virus.

They added that they tried to book a wedding hall, but the prices surprised them, and prompted them to re-plan the wedding, noting that the new prices did not take into account the economic conditions, and many were affected by the Corona crisis.

They explained that “before the Corona crisis, the prices of the new kush did not exceed 40 thousand dirhams, while the price of the wedding hall reached 20 thousand dirhams, which was helping families to book the hall at medium and appropriate prices.

With the number of invitees reduced by 50%, due to physical distancing, and limiting the spread of the virus among them, it was expected to reduce prices, but we were surprised by the opposite.”

On the other hand, wedding planners: Ehab Rushdi, Siddiq Al-Hajj, and Abdel-Jalil Khaled indicated that most customers request the details of a new kosha, with specific specifications, which raises its production costs, especially since the number of kosha producers has become few, due to the decrease in demand for it last year, As a result of the Corona crisis, the closure of wedding halls, and the economic impact of wedding operators.

They added that the price of the new kosha ranges between 60 and 80,000 dirhams, depending on the specifications, size, and recommendations of the bride's family, noting that "most families refuse to use the old kosha, as it is used and does not meet the required specifications."

They added, "It is natural that the increasing demand for reservations for lounges during the next two months will contribute to an increase in the price."

They considered that "the prices of the kush are suitable for all families, and it is natural that they rise with the beginning of the summer season, especially since the demand for wedding parties this year is increasing, as a result of the parties stopping in wedding halls last year, and they were limited to a specific number of families."

The businessman and owner of wedding halls in Ras Al Khaimah, Hamad Al-Shirawi, said that “wedding halls are no longer operating at their full potential, and they do not pay their operational costs,” noting that they are still affected by the repercussions of the Corona crisis, as a result of reducing the number of invitees.

He explained that the operating cost of one hall amounts to 7,000 dirhams, including electricity fees, operating air conditioners, salaries of workers and maids in the kitchen, and cleaning companies.

He explained that wedding halls are designated to receive 1,000 people, but are operated to receive from 50 to 200 people, according to the requests of the newlyweds' families, and pointed out that the hall rental fees start from 15,000 dirhams, excluding the kush fees, yet customers refuse those prices, and demand that they be reduced to less From 10 thousand dirhams.

He added that the wedding hall cannot operate at a loss, or with fees that do not cover the financial costs it spends on services, bills and expenses spent in each wedding ceremony, noting that families can reduce wedding expenses by using old kush, and booking a wedding hall for less than 40 One thousand dirhams, especially since the prices available in the market are varied and suitable for everyone, according to the financial income of each family.

It is noteworthy that the competent health authorities had decided to allow the resumption of wedding parties in halls and hotel facilities, homes and temporary halls, and tents in residential areas, to facilitate the community, and enable it to celebrate such happy social occasions, according to the prevailing traditions, taking into account the precise application of a set of The requirements and preventive measures that ensure the safety and health of the participants.

The requirements for holding wedding parties and social events included that the number of people inside the hall should not exceed 200 people, and in tents and homes no more than 30 people, according to the capacity of the place, provided that the perimeter of one person to separate from the others is four square meters of the total area of the place.

It is mandatory to wear masks all the time, and the possibility of removing them while sitting at tables only, and leaving a distance of two meters between each table.
