The Dubai Health Authority has revealed the imminent start of facilitating the procedures for licensing new professionals from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the categories of nursing and support services, to be treated the same as the citizens of the country.

The Executive Director of the Health Regulation Sector at the authority, Dr. Marwan Al-Mulla, said that "the new decision comes in implementation of the decision of the Ministry of Health and Prevention of Private Society to adopt unified standards for licensing health professions, which was issued recently," adding that the decision aims to attract talent and medical minds to the health sector system. He stated that the authority is implementing other procedures to attract competencies from some European countries, America, Canada, Australia and South Africa, where specialists and consultants will be exempted from licensing tests, to facilitate them.

Nurses and workers in the auxiliary professions will also be exempted from the experience and examination requirement for recent graduates from countries such as Austria, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, as a measure to support operations in private facilities.

He stressed that the authority is one of the first entities to join the investor platform, which was launched by the Executive Council of the Government of Dubai, and is considered a unified platform for applying for licenses in the emirate.

Al Mulla said that the authority implemented a special strategy in the field of supporting and attracting investors in the health sector, as it provided many facilities and economic incentives to attract them, and also supported current investors during the pandemic with several facilities, such as exemption from delay fines for renewing the facility's license and extending the validity of the license.

He pointed out that the authority has recently added many countries to the list of countries recognizing the certificates of specializations issued by it, most notably Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, pointing out that new details will be announced soon in this regard, especially with regard to licensing professionals from these countries.

He added that the authority, represented by the health regulation sector, has introduced many automated services in the health licensing system, an artery in line with the health status of the “Covid-19” pandemic, especially at the scale of health facilities, where the service of surveys for “Covid-19” and vaccination against it, for the facilities wishing in providing these services.

Al Mulla pointed out that the authority is mainly keen on facilitating the procedures for obtaining medical licenses for facilities, and licenses to practice the profession through the “Sheryan” system, as it is making great efforts to support and facilitate investment opportunities for the private sector, which is a strategic partner in developing the medical sector in the emirate, and promoting It is an ideal destination for those seeking treatment and recovery.

He added: “The authority is working to strengthen and develop the medical licensing system, and facilitate obtaining it electronically, based on the use of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence technology, to make the system more flexible, effective and responsive to the requirements and needs of customers and investors around the clock, including doctors and dentists. Nursing, allied health professionals, and health care workers.

It is worth noting that the authority recently announced the introduction of new names for health professionals, in cooperation with the health authorities in the country, most notably liver transplantation - head and neck plastic surgery - medical virology - advanced heart failure and heart transplantation - forensic radiology, in addition to many other specialties.

According to the authority's statistics, the increase in the number of health professionals during the first quarter of this year was in proportion to the number of health facilities, as 600 health professionals were licensed since the first quarter, an increase of 3%, compared to the last quarter of last year. Their registration was accepted in the first quarter, and those qualified to practice immediately after joining the health facilities, 3057 professionals.
