Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, a member of the Arab Union for Space Sciences, said that the shadow of noon is absent these days in the southern regions of the country, which are Umm Al-Zamoul, Liwa, Madinat Zayed and Al-Quaa because of the perpendicularity of the sun to these areas, where the Tropic of Cancer crosses the southern parts of the country.

He explained that the sun perpendicular in those areas, starting from June 6, until July 7, on the southern regions of the country, and the absence of the shadow of the meridian with the time of noon around 12:25 pm Emirates time, and therefore no shadow of people and buildings is seen during noon time.

He stated that the first perpendicularity of the sun will be in the far south of the Emirates on June 6 near Umm Al-Zamoul, then the perpendicular area will creep to the north near Madinat Zayed with the date of the solar solstice on June 21 and then return towards the south near Umm Al-Zamoul on July 8, and after July 10 the perpendicular site moves To more areas in the south.

He pointed out that the areas located between the Tropic of Cancer at 23.5 north, part of which falls within the southern regions of the country, and the Tropic of Capricorn at 23.5 south, the sun perpendicular to it on two dates during the year.

The sun is perpendicular to the Tropic of Cancer around June 21, accompanied by the shortest day and longest day in the northern part of the Earth, while it is perpendicular to the Tropic of Capricorn around December 21 accompanied by the shortest day and longest night in the northern part of the Earth.
