One month before the start of the summer vacation, many unknowns remain as to the opening of the borders.

Southern Europe, Northern Europe, Maghreb, United States ... In which countries will French tourists be able to travel, and what rules will they have to follow for this?

Europe 1 takes stock.

A short month separates us from the start of the summer holidays.

Since the Covid-19 crisis, departures are more and more decided at the last minute.

This summer will be no exception to the (new) rule, especially if you want to go abroad.

Indeed, there are still many unknowns regarding the opening of borders.

So where can we go?

In Europe, no homogeneity

For the French, the doors to Southern Europe are open, especially those of Greece, Croatia, Italy, Spain, and even Portugal.

But with different rules everywhere: the vaccine is sufficient, for example in Greece or Croatia.

But even with a vaccine, you need an extra test to get to Spain or Italy.

In northern Europe, Germany always asks for a five-day quarantine if you are arriving from France ...

No homogeneity for the moment within the European Union.

Discussions are nevertheless underway on the famous health pass and we should know more by the end of June.

Compulsory isolation on return from Tunisia or Morocco

Outside the European Union, Tunisia and Morocco are also ready to welcome French tourists, but here it is the French government that is slowing down: the 14-day isolation remains mandatory on our return, if we go to the one of those countries.

And it's hard to know if that will change by this summer.

Finally for the United States, France is ready to welcome American tourists, but this is not reciprocal for the moment.
