The movement has chosen Friday, the day of its first manifestation in 2020, to celebrate its first year of existence.

Also on the Independence Monument Square, around 2,000 people gathered in a festive atmosphere to support their leader.

The M5 had the courage to mobilize the population, to say things that the average Malian would not dare to say,"

said a sympathizer.

So we have confidence in the M5 today.

Let's put them to the test to see what they can do for us.

 "

Several personalities of the movement are present, apart from Imam Mahmoud Dicko, an emblematic figure of the movement.

In the audience, float some Russian flags and some slogans hostile to France.

Before paying homage to Soumaïla Cissé, the late opposition figure, the president of the M5 Strategic Committee and probable future Prime Minister Choguel Maïga made a point of reaching out to Mali's international partners.

“

When our country was threatened by terrorist hordes, a Frenchman was among the first who gave their lives.

We will never insult the soldiers of Minusma, African countries who died on the territory.

We must tell our friends: our people need their hand to be held so that they can feel upright, so that they regain their pride, their dignity, their independence.

And that is why we will be realistic and pragmatic.

We will respect international commitments, which are not contrary to the fundamental interests of the Malian people.

 "

The M5 calls to assemble again tomorrow.
