The police detained two suspects of fraud against the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, 96-year-old Vasily Pronin.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

“Operatives of the GUUR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department, together with colleagues from the Internal Affairs Directorate for the South-Eastern District of the capital and the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Tekstilshchiki district of Moscow, in cooperation with the FSB of Russia, detained suspects of fraudulent actions that were committed on May 29 against the veteran Velikaya Of the Patriotic War of Vasily Pronin, ”the ministry said in a statement.

According to the investigation, on May 29, a 96-year-old pensioner received a call from an intruder who introduced himself as a law enforcement officer.

In the conversation, the pseudo-policeman persuaded Pronin to withdraw 400 thousand rubles from his personal bank account and hand them over to an unknown person who was allegedly a suspect - this had to be done in order to "catch" him.

The veteran complied with the request, but the attacker did not get in touch anymore.

As a result, Pronin realized that he had become a victim of scammers and turned to the police.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art.

159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud committed on a large scale."

This article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to six years, as well as the payment of a fine.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational-search measures, law enforcement officers quickly identified the suspects.

Two malefactors were detained by police officers with the military support of the Russian National Guard.

According to available information, the coordination of the actions of the alleged criminals was carried out from abroad.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs published a video of the arrest of the suspects.

The video shows how one of the suspects is being held by two security officials near the entrance of a multi-storey building.

Looking at the camera, he claims that he is not guilty of anything and only made a transfer to a stranger on a Qiwi wallet, for which he should have received 5 thousand rubles.

According to him, he does not know what the customer was doing. 

These shots are replaced by the shooting of the second suspect, who tells the details of the crime.

“They detained some bad order.

The customer asked to remove the collection.

When I approached the house, he said that the man was afraid to take out the money, because the amount was large.

According to him, he then transferred funds to the Qiwi wallet through terminals and ATMs.

The suspect communicated with the customer by phone and never met him personally.

In addition, the man admits that this is not the first such order.

Previously, he had already collected money in the area of ​​the Yaroslavl highway and then performed similar actions.

“Officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia do not exclude that, in addition to Vasily Pronin, other citizens, including the elderly, suffered from the actions of the swindlers.

Searches were carried out at the place of residence of the suspects, during which the operatives found and seized communication equipment, bank cards, cash and other items of evidentiary value.

After that, the suspects were taken to the police department for investigative measures. 

According to media reports, one of the suspects is named Alexey Konkov, he is 28 years old.

During the Great Patriotic War, he took part in the Battle of the Kursk Bulge.

On May 29, he reported the incident to the police.

During the Victory Day parade on May 9, Vasily Gavrilovich was a guest and sat next to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The head of state even helped him straighten his jacket.
