Illegal Barbie drugs are sold openly - so the sellers are hunted on Instagram

Melanotan 2 is illegal to sell, and can cause several serious side effects.

But if you search on social media, a number of different sellers will still come up.

- I think melanotan is quite common.

You can see it in customs seizures and how many people apply for information about this on our website, says Elin Maria Bergsten at the Medical Products Agency.

Chasing Instagram accounts

The authority is now testing a method where they systematically search for and report salespeople on Instagram.

So far this year, 16 accounts have been reported, which have since been closed.

But it can be difficult to find the person behind the account, and often new pages quickly reappear.
