The boss of LR deputies Damien Abad pleaded on Saturday for the right to designate its candidate for the 2022 presidential election "quickly" at the start of the school year, in order to "embody" among voters a possible "alternation" to Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen .
"It is urgent to ensure that we can find this candidate" and "this choice will have to be made quickly at the end of the summer holidays," said on France Inter Mr. Abad.
The party plans for the moment to designate the candidate in the fall, around October-November, but for Mr. Abad "at the beginning of September it will be necessary that the designation of the candidate is specified".
Because "when we do not have a candidate, we are exposed. Everyone at LR wants to wear the colors and values of our political family. The difficulty is that we do not sufficiently embody a political alternation," he said. -he assures.
To designate the candidate, it is better according to him "a discussion between everyone, which allows us to see which one is best placed".
