From 1 June, new participation restrictions for public gatherings and public events are expected to take effect.

This includes, for example, baptisms, funerals and weddings.

Louise Wemme says that many wedding couples who have planned their weddings for a long time are sad and abandoned, at the same time as they understand.

- It's tough to be a bridal couple right now, says Louise Wemme who works as a wedding coordinator on the west coast.

"It changes daily"

A tour conducted by SVT Nyheter Väst shows that several weddings in western Sweden have been canceled or moved this year as well.

During April to September 2021, Sotenäs parish had 28 booked weddings.

18 of them have been rebooked or relocated.

But after the news that the restrictions will ease on June 1, several bridal couples have now booked weddings again.

- It changes daily, says Malin Hammarström, pastor of Sotenäs parish.

"People find ways to get married in this"

2020 was the lowest number of marriages in Sweden in 20 years.

Almost 11,000 fewer couples got married during the pandemic year 2020 compared with the year before, according to statistics from Statistics Sweden.
