Tübingen's Lord Mayor Boris Palmer (Greens) has admitted a mistake in the dispute over his Facebook comment about Dennis Aogo, which many sides consider racist.
The moment his post is linked to his mayor's office, the comment is undignified.
"It would have been better to put the cell phone away than to type in the 65 characters," said Palmer in the podcast "Die Wochenester" published on Friday by the daily newspaper "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger" and the editorial network Germany (RND).
Palmer had denigrated former national player Aogo in a post about three weeks ago. The Greens now want to exclude him from the party. Palmer emphasized that his statement was meant ironically.
