• After the release of the Streetalbum in January 2020, a photo album in which the inhabitants of the Meinau district had been widely solicited, the artistic company L² offers a free card game called Urban Legends.

  • A card game dedicated to the image, memory and experience of its inhabitants.

  • It remains for the players, from the cards drawn, to imagine more or less embroidered stories and to share around a table and all generations combined, the past and future daily life of the Meinau district.

There are not only footballers at the Meinau in Strasbourg. After the release of the Streetalbum in January 2020, a photo album in which the inhabitants had been widely solicited, this time the association is playing its core asset with a card game dedicated to the image, the memory of its inhabitants.

With a board game, “Urban Legends”, to make life in the Meinau district into moments of sharing, memories such as the SUMA fire or the vertical race in the tower of rue Champagne, rediscovery and discovery. initiation into art, explains the Lu².

But also to allow residents to have all the cards in hand to enhance their environment, their daily life.

Play together

The 168-card game designed with the toy library and the youth sector of the socio-cultural center, mixes both real-life situations, anecdotes, places, and characters from the neighborhood, but above all allows players to forge imaginary links between the cards that 'they have in hand. To tell the most epic and credible stories possible that would have taken place at the Meinau. From the cards drawn, "the best urban legend" makes it possible to reach the End card, which dictates the fall of the story, and therefore to win the game. Several themes, several levels, allow users of all generations to play together.

But why cards? “It was important,” explains Lucile Rimbert. If the idea is to promote the image and memory of the neighborhood, this allows several generations to be brought together around the same table. »Young and old therefore and« a card game pretext to tell stories for inhabitants who have chatting and lived, thanks to cards which all have, without exception, visuals of the Meinau from the photostories produced by Paola Guigou », Specifies Célia Van Haaren, coordinator of Lu² territory projects.
