Yasin Mahamoud is charged with stamping or preparation for kidnapping by another famous rap artist.

He has been in custody since last winter, but has remained silent in all police interrogations.

In court, he kept quiet and provided explanations for the evidence presented to him.

It is not entirely uncommon for gang criminals to remain silent until the trial, says Diamant Salihu, who has been monitoring Stockholm's gang conflicts for several years.

- It is very frustrating for police and prosecutors, who think it is a way to style their version, he says.

"Problematic recognition"

He says it is difficult to say how the court will assess his explanations for the messages sent from his phone.

- It may seem like a reasonable explanation, but he also admits that he conversed with a person who admits that he planned parts of the crime.

It is problematic, says Diamant Salihu.
