- There are sometimes prejudices about what it is actually like to live in the northern parts of Sweden and therefore I think it is important to first and foremost increase knowledge about what northern Sweden can actually offer, says the Minister of Labor, who himself comes from Norrbotten.

Several efforts from the government

Eva Nordmark (S) emphasizes that the government is making efforts to ensure that the state can support the explosive development in northern Sweden in a good way.

- These are gigantic projects that are also a showcase for Sweden to the rest of the world and therefore we have appointed a special coordinator to coordinate everything that must be connected.

But is a coordinator in the form of one person enough?

- Now the work has started to coordinate all policy areas affected by this and then we have to assess according to what efforts are required from the state.

Increased pressure on the unemployed in the big cities

According to the government's coordinator Peter Larsson, around 100,000 people need to move north by 2035 to cover the need for labor.

It increases the pressure on the unemployed in the big cities to the south.

- When I was young, it was said that the Swedish Labor Market Board, AMS, meant "Everyone must go south". Now more people have to go north.
